Fire Dragon Festival Calendar of Events
The Fire Dragon Festival has a whole host of events leading up to the big show. These include opportunities to engage with the artists, help build the dragon that will be used in the performance, participate in interactive activities, and more. Events are free to attend; registration is required where indicated.

Pre-event Festivities

All of these sessions take place between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., all hosted by the NOW Society at 8East (8 East Pender Street).

The events will feature the artists in residence, Bagua Artist Association and Steven Dragonn 沙甸鹹水埠.

Pre-event workshops
Artist and community workshops
From 11:00am – 5:00pm, come join our talented artists and community groups at Chinatown Plaza Mall (180 Keefer St.) for an afternoon of art, culture, and sharing. You'll be able to create your own artpieces that you can take home with you, learn plenty of new things, and immerse yourself in the wonderful Chinatown community.

Fire Dragon Festival
Meet the artists and add incense to the dragon
Friday, September 19th (6:00pm – 8:00pm at 8East, 8 East Pender St., Vancouver)
Meet our artists in residence, Bagua Artist Association, Steven Dragonn, and Sifu Michael Tan from Chau Luen Athletics. This is your chance to ask questions about the Fire Dragon, its building process, and the performance itself, as well as a chance to insert incense and learn about this treasured community festival.

Ceremony and main parade
Saturday, September 20th at 7:00pm at 578 Carrall St.
The main event will see the Fire Dragon with its glowing embers snaking its way through the streets of Chinatown. Follow the dragon and the team of hardworking performers as it twists and turns to the beat of our drums.
